Mystery Band Sampler SAL

I've decided to go ahead with the Mystery Band Sampler SAL!

The SAL will start January 1st, 2015.  There is a limit to the number of participants and the cost is $7 US per participant.  While the cost is in US $, anyone can join.  The currency conversion will be handled by PayPal (you don't need a PayPal account).

Some people have said they are getting error messages from Paypal.  Their payments HAVE gone through.  I will email each person when I get the payment so you'll know if it went through.

You will need to be a member of Facebook.  I will create a closed group for participants only.

If you want to join, you can purchase your spot over there ---->  at the top of the column.
The SAL will close to new participants on January 7, 2015.

The information that I can tell you is:

  • The sampler will feature a variety of stitches
  • The sampler is mainly based on color (options below)
  • There will be a total of 20 bands
  • Stitch count is 119w x 155h.  On 28ct. this makes the stitched area 4¼" x 5½"
  • Only DMC floss is used
The supplies you will need:
  • Fabric in your choice of color, contrasting with your chosen color scheme would look best
  • Recommended count is 28 to be stitched over 2 threads
  • Fabric should be 10"-11" wide x 11½" - 12½" high.
  • DMC floss - will need white for all colorways, see below for lists
The color options are:
  • Blues
  • Greens
  • Yellows
  • Pinks
  • Grays
  • Purples
If you want another color option, let me know and I'll see if it will work.

Here is the DMC floss you will need for your chosen color scheme.

Can you tell yet how mig a piece of fabric will be needed?

Oops. Guess I should have included that information. I've updated the post to include the stitch count and stitched area plus the recommended size of fabric to allow for framing/finishing.

I just tried to use the PayPal-thingy, but got an error message after the payment went through...can you please check if you got it; and tell me if I need to do anything now; because I suppose the page that didn't show said what to do...

Hi! I read about this on a stitching blog and hopped over. I don't have my blog set up yet. I also got the error message after the payment, so I don't know if you were planning on collecting our Facebook information or anything else? I'm Olna Jenn Smith in Albuquerque.

Okay, so being slow and a bit stupid due to Holiday Panic(tm) I just now noticed the bit about white. I've got to stitch from my stash for this and my non-white fabric choices are really limited -- do you think aida in a heathery brown will work (I know you don't like aida but). You said over two but I'm worried about specialty stitches. If evenweave would be better do you think I could swap out the white for a light grey and not have it look too horrid?

Olna,
White fabric would be fine though the white floss won't show up very well. Light gray would be a good choice. This NEEDS to be done on evenweave because the stitches have to be done over two. I'll have photos and diagrams plus I'll be able to answer questions for every band.
