Saturday was a great day! Here's what I got to do:
Went to pick up my youngest sister and got to visit my niece and nephews for a bit while she got ready.
Sis and I took off to the Quilt, Sewing and Craft Festival at the Puyallup fairgrounds. It's not a big show as it's only in the Pavilion but there were some really great booths. I restrained myself and only bought 1 quilt pattern. Bobbie G Designs had a both with both quilt and cross stitch patterns. While I didn't buy any, she had some lovely cross stitch designs. It was really great to actually see the stitched models especially since I don't have a LNS.
Both of us had a scone on our way out of the fairgrounds, yum!
Then we drove toward Olympia where we stopped at Michael's in Lacey. I had two 20% off your total order coupons (which included items already on sale). I purchased 5 Santa ornaments for myself, some 25ct. needlework fabric and some decorative items for my mother for her Christmas present.
We then headed over to west Olympia and stopped at JoAnn's. I bought a winter pillow to add to the stuff for my mom's Christmas present and a small Dimensions kit that was 50% off. Lunch was at Olive Garden. Since I drove, sis paid for lunch.
We had so much fun, we're already thinking about going to the WSU sponsored Sewing Expo at the end of February. This is a really big show with 400+ vendors!
Happy Stitching!

New Finishes!
Well, I've finally gotten around to finishing a couple of things and actually taking pictures of them!
The first is a blackwork cat. The pattern is from the 2007 Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornaments edition. I framed it in a simple black frame that I purchased from http://www.nordicneedle.com/.
The next two finishes are crocheted baby afghans. These were given to my nephew and his wife who are expecting twins in February. Both patterns are from the book Best of Terry Kimbrough Baby Afghans, Leisure Arts #3267.
This one is pattern #11, Lacy Ripple. The yarn I used is Bernat Baby Jacquards in the color Easter Basket.
This is pattern #6, Heirloom Lace. The yarn in this one is Red Heart, TLC Baby. The color is White Sparkle. There is actual color in this yarn but you'll have to click on the picture to see it.

Flight of Freedom update
Here's another updated picture of Flight of Freedom. Since my bowling leagues are both done until the end of August, I have free time in the evenings now.
As you can see, I'm getting close to the point where I will need to roll my scroll frames!! Yea! I have been doing all the backstitching as I go so that I won't have to go back and do any more stitching.
Happy Stitching!

Finally Framed!
It has literally taken me months to get motivated enough to frame a piece for my sister.
She did the stitching. This is from a kit which means the fabric is not generously cut. That's why I have been putting off doing the framing. I hate dealing with undersized fabric!!
Anyway, here is a picture of the finished piece.

What got me motivated? My sister's birthday is May 16. I bought the mat & frame and did the assembly so that will be my present to her.
The mat and frame are both from PictureFrames.com

Cool Video
This is a very cool video. If this doesn't make you smile (or possibly cry) then nothing will.
Enjoy!

Today's Weather pic
For those who don't know, I live on the coast of Washington state. It does snow here occasionally but not frequently - until this winter! When we do have snow, it's usually in December. The picture above was taken this morning looking out into my backyard. As I write this, it is still snowing with no sign of stopping!

Flight of Freedom update
Here's a pic of my progress on Flight of Freedom - it is a Dimensions kit.
I've been working on the area shown for the last 3 weeks but I only get to stitch a couple of nights a week. Since I bowl Monday and Tuesday nights, that takes away from my stitching time.
Happy Stitching!

Great Bowling Season
While my average is down a couple of pins from previous years, I am still having a great bowling season!
Last November, I picked up the Big 4 Split!!
This past Tuesday night, I bowled my first 600 series!! I bowled a 214, 189 and 213 to total 616!! The 213 game was also a clean game (no open frames).
Considering that on Monday night I had a 519 series (over my average as well), it's been a good bowling week!
