Framed! 4&5 of 5

 Hey!

Last night, I framed the 4th and 5th pieces I plan to show in our county fair.  They are Night Train and Night Train II by Elizabeth Spurlock.  I believe they are both out of print (check Etsy or Ebay if you’re interested in either).  I know I finished Night Train in 2008, so it only took 16 years for me to complete the set.  Yes, I can be a bit of a procrastinator.  ;-)

I’ll let you know how they do in the fair (July 31-Aug 3).

Framed! 3 of 5

 Hey!

I got the 3rd one framed today.  I’m a Christmas fanatic, so I had to stitch this one.  I almost always have something Christmas-related in my rotation.

This one is so simple, but poignant and I love it!  Projects 4 & 5 are a pair, so I’ll be posting them together when I get them framed.  Oh, all the frames were purchased from arttoframes.com (no affiliation, just a customer).

Framed! 2 of 5

 Hello, My Peeps!

I got another one of my projects framed tonight.  The remaining 3 have been washed and ironed and are hanging overnight to ensure that they are bone-dry before I frame them.

Tonight’s project was Mini Wings of Repose [retired] from HAED; original artwork by Nene Thomas.

Wedding Sampler framed!

 Hey Everyone!

Just a couple of minutes ago I finished framing my Wedding Sampler!

Now I just have to wait for August so I can enter it in our county fair.

Quilt Finished!

Hello Everyone!

I finished quilting my antique grandmother's flower garden last night. Totally finished including binding! I hate binding so that's pretty major. ;-)

Here are all the relevant details:

• Top made by my great grand aunt Anna Emeline Armstrong Casebeer (b. 1882 - d. 1945)
• Batting: Warm & Natural
• Threads: Essential Threads (green), Gütermann (variegated yellow)
• Dritz stencil #3408, cornered feather 4" (small flowers)
• Full Line Stencil #30327, wandering vine (yellow border)
• 10" circle used to make arcs in the hexie flowers
• 108" wide white on white backing (no idea of brand)
• Started hand-quilting on 4 Oct 2018; finished on 19 May 2019
• Finished size: 70" x 80" (177.8cm x 203.2cm)

I have NOT washed (soaked) it yet. I wanted to document it first before I did...just in case.

 

Whew! I'm so glad I've finally finished it. I AM going to make a label for it but it will go on after the quilt's been washed. I have to show it off a bit then I'll figure out what I'm going to do with it.

Finish It Up Challenge - another one done!

Hey Everyone!

I've finished another item on my FIU list!  I listed pretty much everything I had set aside for my Etsy shop, XedStitches!  All I can say is, "Whew!".

I listed:

• 38 quilting patterns
• 18 quilting magazines
• 7 sewing patterns
• 8 quilting books
• 10 cross stitch magazines
• 5 cross stitch leaflets
• 6 cross stitch kits (including 2 Winnie the Pooh!)
• 1 rescued finished cross stitch piece (Hinzeit Mini Blocks, Fishing - framed!)

I'm tired now but glad I got it done!

Quilt top finish

Whew!  I finished a quilt top (aka a "flimsy") last night.  It's a zipper or cobblestone quilt, though zipper seems to be the preferred name.

Of course, with any form of quilt, a cat has to get involved.  Say "hi" to Spooky.  ;-)

Most of the time, you will see this quilt pattern use whites for the squares.  I happened to have a lot of black squares so I used them instead.

The squares are 2" (1½" finished) and the bricks (rectangles) are 2" x 3½" (1½" x 3" finished).  There are 20 square/brick sets across the width and 61 rows.  Finished size of the top is 90" x 91½".

I'm thinking that I won't put on any borders and I'll bind it with a black & white binding.  That will probably be awhile from now.  I've got so many flimsies that I need to layer, quilt, and bind before this one.

I wanted to get this one finished and off my design wall so that I'd have room to work on Bonnie Hunter's upcoming mystery.  For that, you can find information at Quiltville.  She has the fabric requirements posted and the first step in the mystery will be posted on Black Friday, November 23rd.

La Belle Dame...framed!

I finished framing La Belle Dame Sans Merci this past weekend!  Here it is:

The frame is from PictureFrames.com.  It's from their Renoir collection.

I got this done just in time to show in my local county fair.  Entries go in this coming weekend.  I'll post after the fair with my results.

Another Piece Framed!

I got my QS Dragonflies framed last night!  Thankfully, I got it done in time to enter in my county fair.  I drop them off on Sunday.

Once I get this and my Mother's Tree back from the fair, I'll post how I did.

Small finish and HAP SAL progress

I recently had a small finish.  It's a Santa Claus ornament by TLC Designs, called Santa II.  This was a kit I'd had for years.  I'd tried to sell the unopened kit in my Etsy shop but didn't have any takers, so I decided I might as well stitch it up. 

I think he turned out rather well.  This next Christmas, he'll go on my Santa tree in my home office.  (I put up 3 trees every year.)

Now for my HAP SAL progress in the past month!  I've had progress on 2 of my HAPs.

The first is God Speed.  Here's where I started:

I've gone from 23.07% to  26.87% done!

I tried to also finish the partial page I had left on La Belle Dame Sans Merci, but I didn't quite make it.

So on that one, I've gone from 48.21% to roughly 49.16%.  Not too shabby for only a few days work!

Daily Progress photos - round 4

And here are the final progress photos.  Yes, that means that I finished it!  While I did get it done in time to show in my county fair, I didn't bother to frame it in time.  That's kind of sad, 'cause I already have the frame and mats!  Oh, well, at least the stitching's done.

Images from the Past: Wedding Samplers

Images from the past refers to items that I finished some time ago and were on my personal webpage but not necessarily on my blog.

Today I thought I'd post photos of the various wedding samplers I've stitched.  No, I never stitched on for DH & me.

This one was for my younger sister and brother-in-law.

 

This was for my youngest sister and brother-in-law.

 

 

This was for my pastor's daughter.  This is one of only a handful of project to have no mistakes.  The mirror image effect of the pattern made any mistakes glaringly obvious so I frogged quite a bit.

 

This was for a good friend and her husband.  She was my matron of honor when I got married.

This one was the only one that I've done a major modification on to fit the couple.  The original was for two white hands and cream colored roses.  I was matron of honor in this wedding.  Unfortunately, none of the bride's other "friends" would stand up for her because she was marrying a non-white man.

I did this one for my cousin and her husband.  I modified this one slightly by extending the borders and adding their names and the date.

This is one sampler that I've stitched 3 different times.  I stitched it for the lady who used to be my babysitter (now divorced); my uncle and his 2nd wife, the image shown, (now divorced); and my niece and her husband.  The third time was the charm with this one - the niece and nephew are still together!



 

 

I have also stitched one with swans on it but never had a photo.  I stitched one called United in Love as well but since they got divorced, I guess they weren't that united.  Never had a photo of that one either.  Oh, well.
