Hummingbird and Dragonflies

Carla requested a post with QS Hummingbird and QS Dragonflies side-by-side.

Here you go!

For both of these, I used hand-dyed fabrics.  Both are also 28ct.  The hummingbird is on a Silkweaver fabric called Spring something-or-other.  I really don't remember the name.  The dragonflies are on Picture This Plus's Monet which I purchased from 123stitch.

County Fair - ribbons!

Hi Everyone!

This year I entered 7 cross stitch items in my county fair.  While I did expect to get some blue ribbons (1st place), I also expected a white (3rd place).  Thankfully, I was quite wrong on the white!

Here's what I entered and won:
  • Mystic Garden - HAED BB SAL from last year:  Blue
  • QS Hummingbird - HAEDBlue
  • Whitework Sampler - from the Gift of Stitching online magazine (retired):  Blue
  • Autumn Days - freebie pattern from Enchanted Needle Designs:  Blue
  • Faith, Family, Friends - from Just Cross Stitch (I think):  Blue
  • 12 Days of Christmas - by Teresa WentzlerBlue, Best of Section (purple), 2nd place Best of Show (red rosette)
  • Heirloom Christmas Sampler - from The Victoria SamplerBlue, Best of Section (purple), 1st place Best of Show (blue rosette)
The Heirloom Christmas Sampler is the one I expected to get a white ribbon.  According to one of the ladies who aided the judges, it was the detail of the Christmas tree that decided that one was first place and the 12 Days was second.  :-)

I took a photo of just the ribbons because all but one of the projects have acrylic over them and would cause a glare.  Here's all my ribbons:

A finish got framed!

I finally got around to framing my finished QS Hummingbird from Heaven and Earth Designs!  It was stitched 1x1 on 28ct. fabric from Silkweaver Fabrics.  I don't remember the color name for the fabric - it was Spring something-or-other.  ;-)

The frame is an unfinished wood frame that I painted Spring Green.  The mat is plain black.  The mat and frame are both from Picture Frames.com.

Here is the picture of the framed piece:

It is now hanging above my desk though I may decide to showcase it somewhere else in the house.

A Finish!! (cross stitch)

Woo-hoo! I have another finish! Last night I finished my second HAED. It is QS Hummingbird by Ching-Chou Kuik.

I stitched it 1x1*, full stitches on 28ct. fabric. The fabric is from Silkweaver. I'm sorry to say that I don't remember the color name. It was Spring something-or-other. I know, I know but that's as close as I can get. I did look on their site and couldn't find it.

Drum roll, please. Here is the picture of the finished project.

* 1x1 means 1 strand of floss over 1 fabric thread.

Hummingbird WIP update

Here is my latest progress photo for my QS Hummingbird from HAED.

This is pages 1 & 4 done.  Those are the only two full pages of the six pages in the chart!  I would say that this puts me about half way done with this project!

Another WIP photo

I have so many WIPs that it's not even funny (fun, but not funny).  Anyway, I have one from HAED that I can work on pretty much any time, anywhere since it only has one color:  black.  I just finished the first page out of six.  Of the six pages, only the first two are full pages.  Here's a photo of my progress:

  • QS Hummingbird by Ching-Chou Kuik
  • Stitched with 1 strand of floss over 1 fabric thread
  • 28ct. Spring something-or-other from Silkweaver
